NYG UPDATE:  How quickly time flies!  As the NYG draws nearer, I wanted to give an update on where we are at in our preparations for the trip coming up in July:

We have 14 youth that will go to the youth gathering, and 4 adult leaders who will help lead the youth on the trip down to New Orleans.  That is right within the youth to leader ratio guidelines set out by the National Youth Gathering. The leaders are Pastor Short, Jamie and Amanda Hanis, and Abby Smeal (2 Males, 2 Females).  Amanda Hanis stepped up and was approved to be a leader at the March voters meeting.

Amanda Reznicek, who has been doing an awesome job in working to get preparations in order for the gathering, has decided to step down as a youth leader to the gathering.  We are very thankful for all her hard work to get this trip off the ground for the youth.   She will continue to lead the youth group on Wednesday evenings.

As for the trip, us NYG leaders have been meeting once a month to stay on top of preparations for the gathering.  In January and February, we worked to find restaurant options for the kids to enjoy every evening of the gathering.  Because reservations were already being filled up, and many had been filled by the middle of January, we had to move fast to make sure we were even able to get a reservation for our group each night.  Thankfully, everything worked out!

Also, an anonymous donor has paid for our youth to go to a district event set up by the Nebraska District.  On the day we get into New Orleans, we will join with youth from all over Nebraska for a meal and live music, and join in with a traditional parade from our venue to the superdome, where the gathering will begin.

This month, the leaders and I will be meeting to work on seeing where our housing is located.  The Youth Gathering is finishing up hotel assignments, and is posting them online for us to see now.

In terms of planning, our flights are scheduled to fly out of Omaha on July 19th at 6:30AM, and get into New Orleans at 11:00AM.  We are scheduled to fly out of New Orleans on July 25th at 2:00PM and get back to Omaha at 8:40PM.

Thank you to all the parents for your ongoing support.  Each month, as we go on, keep an eye out on your email or in the bulletin for ongoing updates about all the exciting things going on as we prepare for the gathering!  Pastor Short

Open:  1st & 3rd Monday, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Tuesdays, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.    Thursdays, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

NOTE: People can drop off directly at the pantry or to the North Bend Library. A big thank you to those who donate.

*Starting in January of 2025, patrons must provide both a photo ID and a current utility bill to be able to access the pantry. This new requirement is in addition to our current pantry usage policies. Patrons must be from the North Bend School district and may only select items for people in their own household. Patrons may shop once per week, may fill one provided paper bag or 2 plastic bags and must take note of the limits on items. The pantry is meant to be a stop gap, not a full grocery shopping experience. We encourage patrons to take only what they need as others depend on the pantry too.
